Seasonal Post #4- Cool Summer
Cool summer. Sounds a little....conflicted, right?
Well, it is if you're literally thinking of cool weather in the summer time. Where I live, a typical summer day is around 110!
Yes, it's no fun. (Unless you're in the water!)
6 months ago, I would have looked at you really funny if I heard you say those words together in a sentence.
Lucky for both of us, I know better now!
The "cool" refers to a cool undertone to the skin, eyes, and hair.
Let's jump right in with hair
Cool Summer's hair tones are always more muted. Gray, ash blonde, or ashy brown. Not golden at all.
See the difference between these warm and cool tones of blonde?
Here's an example of cool brown hair.
and here's an example of cool gray
Now, for the eyes
Cool eyes are a lovely, soft variety of gray, green, or blue.
Here are some examples.
MOVING ON TO SKIN TONES
It can sometimes be difficult to differentiate between cool and warm skin tones. An easy way to tell is to look at the underside of your wrist.
The specific cool tone of skin for a cool summer is usually light beige, with a touch of pink or blue undertone. It typically doesn't freckle, and isn't as prone to burning as the other seasons we've learned so far.
Look above at the arm on the right for an example.
Here's a perfect example of a cool summer!
And here is a dark skinned version of cool summer.
Notice how the undertones in both are blue and pink.
